A mother’s search. A community’s beginning.

ALBE founder Abi with her son Jacob

For Abi Tannis Porter, A Little Bit Extra began with life as a mother to Jacob — and a search for the support their family needed in Hong Kong.

“Headstrong, cheeky and passionate”Abi’s description of Jacob on ALBE’s original website

While living and working in Hong Kong, Abi found relevant, up-to-date resources, information and medical support for children with Down syndrome challenging to find. A Little Bit Extra was born from that experience.

The charity’s purpose extends beyond childhood: to support, connect and enhance the development of children, adolescents and adults with Down syndrome, and the families alongside them.

Turning a search into connection

This resource hub carries that purpose forward. It brings starting points for learning, family support, life skills and employment into a clearer journey, while keeping the original sources visible.
