WHY IT MATTERS
Families need more than healthcare, and the information they need is scattered.
ALBE’s October 2026 strategy update found that families want whole-of-life support, that training, life skills and employment are unmet needs, and that therapy access is challenging. The hub brings that support together in one trusted place.

HOW WE WORK WITH PARTNERS
Dignity comes first
Nothing about us without us
People with Down syndrome and families review campaign content before it goes live.
Ordinary lives, not pity
We show contribution, friendship and work, never “inspiration” or tragedy framing.
Consent you can withdraw
Photos and stories are used only with informed consent that can be withdrawn.
Editorial independence
Partners never shape health, education or service content; acknowledgements are clearly separate.
Pay people for their expertise
Self-advocates who speak, test or present are paid for their time.
WAYS TO BEGIN
Start small and grow together.
Many partnerships begin with a one-hour talk or a volunteer morning.
1
Learn
Host a lunch-and-learn on Down syndrome and inclusion, co-led by a self-advocate.
1 hour
2

1 week

Donation or sponsorship?
Donation
A gift of money with no commercial benefit in return. ALBE states that donations of HK$100 or more are eligible for a tax-deductible receipt; IRD caps approved charitable donation deductions at 35% of income or assessable profits.
Support with agreed acknowledgement or engagement benefits. Because there is a benefit, its tax treatment usually differs from a donation, so please check with your tax adviser.
Dates to plan around
21 March · World Down Syndrome DayRecognised by the UN since 2012. A gentle way to begin is wearing odd socks (#LotsOfSocks) and hosting a talk co-led by a self-advocate.
3 December · International Day of Persons with DisabilitiesA natural moment for inclusive-employment commitments.
ALBE symposium seriesEarly years (2025) and ages 6–12 (21 March 2026) have been held; adolescence and adulthood is planned next, date to be confirmed.
Caring Company cyclePartnership activity counts within HKCSS’s published validity period, so start early in your reporting year.
A short summary to share inside your organisation
Most partnerships start with one person inside an organisation. Copy this into a proposal if it helps.
Proposal: partnership with A Little Bit Extra (ALBE), Hong Kong
Who: ALBE is a Hong Kong section 88 tax-exempt charity (A Little Bit Extra Limited, IRD file 91/18222) supporting people with Down syndrome and their families through every stage of life.
Why it fits us: it gives us measurable community investment for HKEX ESG Code B8 (focus areas and resources contributed), counts towards Caring Company criteria (volunteering, giving, mentoring, employing the vulnerable, procurement), and maps to SDGs 3, 4, 8, 10 and 17.
What we would do: [choose: sponsor a life-stage pathway / video library / country hub / symposium; skills-based volunteering; payroll giving with company match; inclusive employment taster programme].
Effort and risk: ALBE scopes each partnership, provides twice-yearly updates and an annual impact statement, follows a written safeguarding policy and Hong Kong privacy principles, and never uses images of children without informed consent.

ALBE publishes that A Little Bit Extra Limited is incorporated in Hong Kong and has tax-exempt charitable status under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance (IRD file 91/18222). You can confirm the listing on the Inland Revenue Department’s search of tax-exempt charities.
Is our gift tax-deductible?
ALBE states that donations of HK$100 or more are eligible for a tax-deductible receipt. Under IRD guidance, approved charitable donations must be gifts of money, and the deduction is capped at 35% of income or assessable profits. Sponsorships that include marketing benefits are usually treated differently, so please confirm with your tax adviser.
Can ALBE support our Caring Company application?
The Caring Company Scheme requires nomination by a section 88 charity registered in Hong Kong for at least a year, and at least two of five community-partnership criteria confirmed by both sides. ALBE may be able to act as a nominator, subject to HKCSS’s eligibility review for each cycle. Ask us early in your partnership year.
Will our brand appear on family content?
Acknowledgements are discreet and clearly separate from guidance. Partners never influence health, education or service content, which protects families and your reputation.
Can we partner across several Asian offices?
Yes. The hub covers Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines, so one partnership can include country hubs, local community circles and employee engagement in each market.
How will we know it worked?
You receive a twice-yearly update and an annual impact statement covering money and time contributed, reach, content delivered and, as the family survey baseline is built, outcomes such as confidence and connection.
