More possibility. At every stage.

A Hong Kong charity with a simple belief: individuals with Down syndrome and their families deserve understanding, connection and support throughout life.

THE EXTRA IN OUR NAME

ALBE means A Little Bit Extra.

Our name refers to the extra copy of chromosome 21 associated with Down syndrome. That little bit extra is part of a person — never the whole story.

WHY WE’RE HERE

Support shouldn’t stop at childhood.

ALBE’s 2023 family survey, described in the October 2026 strategy update, highlighted needs beyond healthcare — including training, life skills, employment and access to therapy. Information exists, but families often have to search across many places to find it.

The resource hub is a clearer starting point for that whole-of-life journey. It connects useful information with original sources and makes space for lived experiences, belonging and community.

Our mission

To support, connect and enhance the development of individuals with Down syndrome, and the families and communities alongside them.

A little bit extra. A lifetime of connection.

Who is this for?

Individuals with Down syndrome, parents, siblings, carers, educators, professionals and allies. We centre Hong Kong families while welcoming relevant regional connections.

What can I find?

Source-linked resources across health, education, life skills, employment, family wellbeing and ageing, alongside personal stories and community opportunities.

When is it relevant?

At every stage — from a new diagnosis to early years, school, adolescence, adulthood and later life. Life-stage age ranges are navigation aids, not eligibility rules.

Where does support apply?

Each resource states its geography. Hong Kong is the hub’s home; Singapore and international online resources are clearly distinguished from local services.

Why a resource hub?

To make scattered information easier to navigate, reduce isolation and help families find a useful next step rather than search alone.

Created, selected or linked

Resource labels distinguish a draft ALBE guide, a selected resource summary and an external resource. Every entry identifies its source owner and last source-check date. Listing does not imply partnership or professional endorsement.

A growing hub, shaped with families

The October 2026 strategy proposes a new audience survey and further decisions about scope, specialist review, translation and sustainable content ownership. These are not presented as completed. This preview’s descriptions and Chinese translations require ALBE approval before public release.
